What We Do

We help

Tax can be a little bit baffling, and the tax legislation and associated guidance is constantly changing. We keep up to date so you don’t have to.

Whether you are an individual, or an owner-managed business, we offer straightforward advice in a language you can understand. If you want to deal with the more simple elements of your tax affairs yourself, we can empower you to do that, leaving us to deal with the trickier bits.

We smile

We love tax and we love our clients. When you enjoy your work it makes you want to do it to the best of your ability. And that’s our aim. If our clients are happy then we are happy.

We like to meet our clients

Ideally we like to meet with our clients at least once each year. We get to know their families, hobbies and future plans as well as getting to know their tax affairs. We find that a good natter over a cup of coffee can really cement the relationship.

When you are deciding whether to work with us we always offer an initial free meeting to talk about how you think we can help. And to make sure you like us because that is important.

We tell you if we don’t know the answer

Although we have 25 years’ experience, the most important thing we have learned in that time is that we don’t know everything about tax. If we recognise that we don’t have the expertise to deal with your query we will let you know. And come up with a plan to get you the answer.

We have a wide range of longstanding professional contacts including investment and financial advisers, solicitors, and fellow accountants and tax advisers. Having this network generally means that we know a man, or woman, that can.

We talk to HM Revenue & Customs

We take part in HM Revenue & Customs’ (HMRC) Working Together group. Working Together is a partnership between HMRC and agents nationally, overseen by the main agent professional bodies. These friendly sessions and online forums look for ways to improve HMRC’s operations for the benefit of tax agents, their clients and HMRC.

We frequently deal with the following

  • Self-assessment tax returns (for individuals, partnerships, trusts and deceased estates)
  • Business accounts (for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies)
  • Property rental accounts
  • Capital gains tax planning and computations
  • Corporation tax returns
  • Tax enquiries by HM Revenue & Customs
  • HM Revenue & Customs disclosures
